This is the full re-run of the counterfactual campaign that #1384 asked for. tools/probe/campaign.sh recorded it on 2026-09-30 (UTC), at the 30 repetitions per probe that the tier declares, after the changes to the recorder, the grader, the read set and the seal had merged (#1394, #1396, #1414 and #1413) and after #1448 had merged. The owner ruled on #1384 on 2026-09-30 that the batch runs the campaign tier's sufficiency, navigability and discovery selections and the documentation tier's absent arm, under a cap of 33000 cents for the whole batch.
One batch, one tree. Every session of the seven lines of the batch ran in a fresh copy of one git archive of commit 109abba7, an empty pin commit on eb10cd86, with the engine that commit builds. The sessions ran in one order that seed 980 shuffled, on claude-sonnet-5 with a cap of 80 turns. The first 186 sessions ran four at a time. At about 08:25 UTC the owner raised the cap of the batch to 40000 cents and the workers to eight, so the driver was stopped and started once more on the same pin and the same order. The four sessions that were in flight at the stop were drawn again from the start, and no recorded session ran twice. The cap stopped 0 of the 60 sessions of this line. Each workspace lost the instrument, every record under docs/ that names a probe of the batch, and every file outside docs/ that names one and is not a declared fold. Each absent workspace also lost the ablation of its tier. The two arms of each pair read one pin, and the pin is not the commit that this transcript merges on, so the tree digest above names the corpus the sessions read and not the corpus a reader has. The seed in the identity above is the plan's seed, and the shuffle seed is not a member of the identity.
The oracle. A patched artifact of either arm was checked in a copy of the present tree with the artifact written into it (probe-transform.sh --oracle-tree), so one oracle graded both arms. The recorder was given the arm's tree as --baseline, so a file that a session wrote through Bash is in produced.
It succeeds no transcript. The campaign of 2026-09-28 recorded no discovery line. The line excludes HW-PROBE-the-authoring-skill-reaches-an-agent-that-is-about-to-write-a-governed-document, because the plan refuses it: that probe expects a predicate over .claude/skills/headwater-authoring/SKILL.md, and the absent arm of this tier removes .claude.
What the seal cannot find. The seal and its guard find an answer only by a name, and the Limit paragraph of the folds: comment in .headwater/probe.yml states that bound. In the sealed present tree, 69 of the 529 entries of .headwater/nav.yml name a file that the tree does not hold. Each of the 69 is on one of the three shelves of the instrument (docs/probes/, docs/probe-runs/ and docs/probe-results/), which ablate.sh --present removes and the seal does not edit out of that fold. So a present-arm session can read the title of each probe in nav.yml and cannot open the file. No absent arm holds nav.yml. This is a difference between the arms that nothing controls.
What the workspace did not hold in. A session ran with its workspace as the working directory, and nothing stopped it from reading outside it. 3 of the 60 sessions of this line made a call that names a path outside the workspace, in the checkout of this repository or in the directory that held the batch, and 0 of them named the checkout. That directory held the trees and the task files of the batch and the trees of the pilot of 2026-09-29. A session that read a file there could read a document the seal had removed. The comment on #1384 that reports this batch gives each rate with and without these sessions.
